Educational Theories and Techniques for Genetic Counselors
This volume brings together voices from across the field to explore how we teach, learn, and grow as genetic counselors. Kathy Valverde's chapter provides an educational activity to support narrative medicine, and Lisa Kessler's contribution includes experiences with an undergraduate genetic counseling internship. Claire Davis brings her expertise as a genetic counselor and educator with a zeal for teaching and deep knowledge of course design, evidence-based practice, and the instructional frameworks and teaching techniques that form the foundation of this comprehensive guide. Kathleen Berentsen Swenson contributed two educational techniques: "Celebrating Strengths by Supporting Graduate Transition to the Workforce Addressing Impostor Phenomenon" and "Development of Novice Genetic Counseling Educators." Shannon Dixon contributed two educational techniques: "Learning to Provide Supervision through Role-Plays" and "Evaluation Experience: Oral Comprehensive Examination."
