Marcely

AGCF scholar, Marcely Ventura, is the first recipient of the Lauren Ryan Genetic Counselor Access Memorial Award!

The Lauren Ryan Genetic Counselor Access Memorial Award provides an annual award to one or more current and prospective genetic counseling graduate students. The mission of The Lauren Ryan Genetic Counselor Access Memorial Award is to increase access to the profession of genetic counseling for traditionally underrepresented or minority populations through financial support. Lauren’s professional work focused on supporting initiatives that would build a more diverse and inclusive community, and increase equitable access to genetic counselor services.

The Lauren Ryan Genetic Counselor Access Memorial Award Advisory Board said the following,

“We are honored to present Marcely with the inaugural Lauren Ryan Memorial Award. Marcely embodies Lauren’s legacy of advancing inclusion and diversity within the genetic counseling profession. This award was born from our deep grief at Lauren’s passing, and it is profoundly meaningful to launch it in her name with the hope of sustaining support for future GC graduate students. Congratulations, Marcely!”
