Yusra Yusuf
Yusra Yusuf, originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, earned her B.S. in Health Sciences from the University of Minnesota Rochester. As an undergraduate, she held multiple leadership roles, including Student Body President, and worked as a float patient care assistant at Mayo Clinic. She completed a genetic counseling internship at Mayo Clinic and studied abroad in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She is fluent in Somali and is actively involved with organizations such as the Alliance for Genomic Justice, Equity 4GC, and serves as a co-facilitator for BGCSA. In graduate school, she is currently a Graduate Housing Assistant and was recognized with the Graduate Medical Sciences Outstanding Student Achievement Award in Community Service. She is committed to community engagement and mentorship, supporting underrepresented students and engaging youth through programs such as the Achieve Program. She deeply prioritizes patient advocacy through her work with the Massachusetts Sickle Cell Association and helping coordinate the Walk for Sickle Cell in the fall of 2025. Upon graduation, she is dedicated to uplifting underrepresented communities in science and education.
