Timbria Burke
Timbria graduated from the University of Florida, where she received a degree in Health Science with a minor in Public Health. She was an undergraduate research assistant with the University of Florida Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, focusing on interviewing individuals who experienced childhood trauma, natural disasters, homelessness, and foster care. During her senior break, she traveled to Cap-Haïtien, Haiti with P4H Global, where she helped to create a health education curriculum. Upon graduation, she worked as a GCA at GeneDX. She is interested in efforts surrounding health equity and literacy within historically disadvantaged communities. Timbria is a member of the Minority Genetic Professionals Network and GOLDEN. Timbra’s article in NSGC Perspectives is entitled, “Black/African American- Black Cultural Erasure in Genetic Counseling.” (Appendix VII).
